pimpage post: Join the Fight Against Writer's Block!
Well. Rather to my own surprise, I’ve just become the interim mod for a really really great writing comm, ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
fic_rush . It’s a multi-fandom fic comm, and What We Do is have weekend writing marathons, every month or every other month, depending on time, energy, and interest.
How it works: the marathons run for 48 hours, from midnight GMT Friday to midnight GMT Sunday, or from 7 pm Eastern Time Friday to 7 pm Sunday. Anyone and everyone is free to join in and spend as much of that time writing as possible.
Every hour, a new post is made to the sister site,fic_rush_48 . Everyone who’s writing is encouraged to reply to the post with progress (or lack thereof). Often, we chat about writing, commiserate and cheer, exchange terrible jokes, or share useful tips and tricks.
The idea is that we spend as much of those 48 hours as we can, writing, and that we check in regularly and support each other. We don’t stress out over not being able to write the whole time. We don’t stress out over how many words we get written. We celebrate each other’s successes, and cheer each other on. And we get a lot of writing done in a cheerful and supportive atmosphere.
It encourages us to set aside a weekend., or even just a chunk of a weekend, and give that time over to focus on writing. It’s time you give to yourself, after all, and it often seems to make the Muses happy.
After each ‘rush, we gather back on the main site and brag about what we’ve done. There’s a fic gallery for posting works that have been worked on during the ‘rush. Members vote on when the next ‘thon will be; and on we go.
Interested? We’re planning the next ‘rush even as I write. If you like to write, please join us – you can even vote on which weekend in September will be the next marathon. If you like to write and you never seem to set aside time in which to get it done, and you’ve been stuck on one fic or another for months . . . what are you waiting for?

It looks as if the next 'rush weekend will be the 25th and 26th of September. Wanna come play? The original members were mostly Doctor Who fen, but Mac and I have been made quite welcome, and there's plenty of room for more.
If you're interested: joinfic_rush , and also either join fic_rush_48 or set it up to be Watched. On marathon weekends, the posts will fill up your Flist, so many people watch and unwatch the fic_rush_48 comm as needed.
