LOLMac Turns 5!

It’s LOLMac’s fifth LOLiversary!

For your enjoyment:
a walk down meme-ery lane.

In the Beginning, there was RDA Daily. (Actually, in the beginning, there was MacGyver, and LOLCats, and [livejournal.com profile] lothithil, and my partner, all of whom got this started.) But the LOLMacs started when I was fresh and new to RDA fandom, romping around on the newly-discovered comm [community profile] rda_daily, wallowing in teh pretty. And I saw this screen cap from Split Decision (an episode I hadn’t even watched yet), and said unto myself, “Mac looks like he’s holding something. An invizibal object, clearly! It must be . . . ”

Sharp-eyed regulars here will note several points of historic interest:
the failure to misspell 'invizubul' correctly, the fact that I hadn't yet settled on what would become my standard fonts, and my inability, at the time, to adjust light levels and otherwise clean up the image. I did start using the 'icanhastofu.com' tag right at the start. But more than that: the caption, really, says it all. And once I'd started, there were soooooo many other screencaps just begging to be captioned . . .

By the time I had a dozen or so, I wanted a place to post them (other than MacGyverOnline, which wasn't a very good forum for this kind of thing.) I set up this LiveJournal account, with Lothi egging me on, and gradually began to stumble my way through learning the interface. I started adding mouseover text after a couple of months, and backlinks several months later, and eventually went back through the entire archive and added mouseovers to all the older images (and then had to do it all again a couple of years later, to make the text more visible to more people).

Oh, and in the actual episode? Mac was simply in the middle of a random gesture, waving his hand in the air. It's what he does.
