If you're going to shovel the twaddle, you've got to waddle the waddle?

Maybe he needs to feather his nest a bit by upping the bill:

1 roll of standard grey duct tape $3.29
1 Victorinox Genuine Swiss Army Knife (confiscated) $35.95
1 massage to recover from being tied up with hands behind back for 13 hrs.
$125
1 instance of extreme loss of dignity (duck walk to avoid detection) $9.95

I'm basing the price on the fact that Mac is not the type to price that as highly as he probably should. He's a pretty humble guy. Jack would charge much more, not because he isn't humble in his own way, but because he values his dignity so much more.

I agree about the massage though. That's where he's deliberately sticking it to Pete. It's his way of complaining about those 13 hours, since he knows that if he asks for a day of fishing, Pete will grant it, but call him in for something unbelievably urgent before he can actually take it.

Well, maybe he pays the cash, gets the receipt, fills out the expense account, and then they go... fishing. His second massage is free, since she has to adhere to that professional code. The fledgling business benefits, the pretty neighbour lady benefits (as long as she has no long-term relationship goals beyond always having someone to call on in a moment of crisis), and so does Mac. Mac thinks this is how economics should work. The important part is the... exchange of goodwill.
