something truly radical

cough, cough *taps mike* Is this thing on?

Well. Just to start out, let me say that this is not an announcement that I’m going to stop doing LOLMacs; far from it. There will continue to be new LOLs up every weekday until I get tired of it or run out of ideas, and I don’t feel in imminent danger of either. Very far from it.

When I started this site, I never had any idea of it being anything other than an image gallery – I think of LOLMac as a daily single-panel comic, only with better eye candy. (insert salacious laugh)  I have occasionally made additional non-LOL posts, but I’m extremely reluctant to clutter it up with anything else, especially since there’s an unknown but fairly sizable number of people who follow the site by visiting it, and aren’t on the Friends list (including some who aren’t on LJ at all).

Speaking of which, to all and sundry: Friend at will, and comment at will; you don’t have to belong to LJ to comment. Comments are love.

However, I’ve decided to try something truly radical, namely, I’m going to occasionally write in this journal. (Don’t faint, now!) I’ll keep it uncluttered, no fear; any non-LOL posting will occur on weekends, and will subsequently be redated to a different calendar year, out of the way of the gallery. Having assembled all these screen caps, I don’t want to interrupt anyone who might be strolling through them, y'know?

As to what I’ll write about: mostly, it will be about writing, something I started doing not long after I started making LOLMacs. I’ve been a hell of a lot more shy about it, though. I’m trying to get past some of that shyness, and let people know about it who might be interested.

I write MacGyver fanfic; to date, I’ve written one novella, two novels, a mixed bag of drabbles, and I’m partway through my second short story. There are links to some of the titles on the right-hand side of the main LOLMac page – which isn’t seen by people on the Friends list here, since those folks see the LOLs on their own Friends pages.

I found out the last time I posted a LOL of Dexter [Fillmore, that is] that there was, in fact, a real gap between the folks who know about LOLMac and the folks who know about my fic – so I’m going to see about closing that gap. And if the endeavour meets with bored silence or embarrassed coughs, I can always go back to just doing LOLs. . . . so here goes!

So...the writing posts won't actually show up on our friends pages?

And if the endeavour meets with bored silence or embarrassed coughs - Not from this direction it won't! :)

Do you know if there are any comms on LJ where people post Mac fic?

Cool. Wouldn't want to miss anything. :)

Yeah I'm interested. Not sure how many people out there read or write Mac fic though. I only know of three. Lol. *g*

Yes those were the three...how could I have forgotten Pepper?? Lol! I love her Sam/Mac stuff! :D I don't use ff.net. I was under the inpression they don't allow adult fic.

I definitely be interested in cross posting. So kind of an "anything goes" comm as long as it's clearly labelled? It might work better if it weren't exclusively for porn.

I prompted a couple of Mac/Daniel in [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic. Lol. I also prompted a Mac/McKay...can't remember if it ever got written or not...

I do kind of get a slashy vibe from Mac sometimes...he just so tactile with everyone! Lol!

Hey, I love to read writing-about-writing!

Hee! I think it depends on whether Mac is around to avert black holes with some chewing gum and a paperclip.

Write on! :-D

Well, I know I'm in the choir, so to speak... and I know you already know this, but you've got my wholehearted support!

I don't mind a bit of brain candy to go along with my eye candy!

Looking forward to it..

Eek! Please don't redate too hastily. I would hate to miss a post just because I am seriously too slack to work an RSS reader.

I can only support this decision. During the past months I learnt how valuable it is to have a place on my own, where I can do as I please.

In fact, I was going to throw your comment "it's your journal, you can do as you want" backatya, but I haven't answered this yet - sheesh!

So, I'm looking forward to whatever you will post. I'm all for variety!

Sounds great :-)
