To be precise, it's the 1000th unique image posted; I have made more than 1000 posts, because I’ve had occasional re-runs (notably at Christmas, when Mistletoe Man reappears).

Others think I should continue. This worries me.

I'm amazed that you keep count. I rarely bother to look at my LJ, Tumblr, or Twitter counts -- and have the same attitude toward my own birthdays.

I suspect that ICHC long since passed the million mark, if you count all the sub-sites in their sprawling empire. For my part, I have another 998,998 to go (the the second and third LOL in this post were numbers 1001 and 1002).

But yes. Confetti! And cake! And pie!

LOL -- keeping count was a side-effect of keeping track; I have all of them in a spreadsheet, which I use for locating old LOLs for backlinking (and when someone asks me, "Hey, wasn't there a LOL with Hammond glowering at sulking!Jack . . . " And even that started out because I needed a way to keep track of ideas and picture sources and LOLs in progress, because I have this funny twitch about always crediting the people who did the actual capping. I'd be dead in the water without the other screencap junkies.

So I ended up with a LOL spreadsheet, which conveniently also tracked the running total. I didn't actually notice the second and third LOLiversaries at the time (I was on the road for one of them), but I was able to fish them up for this post. The milestones get a lot farther spread out after the first few.

A spreadsheet/database is a good idea if it prevents you from the embarrassment of inadvertently repeating a caption. I use the index search on my hard drive to ensure that I don't use the same old phrases in my fanfic. ;D

Oh, good use of the search function!

I actually have to watch out for repeat names more than captions, and get them numbered suitably. There are two OMG LOLs, for example -- one with Mac and one with Jack. And there are some themes that run intermittently (Fashion Week and room service, for example). As long as I look as if I know what I'm doing, it's all good, right?

Well, I dó, actually! I've gotten a glimpse of it, at MTM in Vancouver. I remember one night, very late, I was almost asleep in that beautiful suite at the Fairmont, and there you were, working on your computer to make yet another LOLMac.

You know what I would really love icon-wise? One of RDA and a dog that says "dogs are my favourite people". :D Would that be OK? I think rdanderson.com has a lot of RDA + dog caps. :)
