Thank you! That's fantastic. I hope the hockey gods are listening! I am wearing my as yet unproven but certainly not *unlucky* "Keep Calm and Bergeron" shirt today. (If they win game seven it'll be officially a lucky shirt.)

I'm thinking the Ori might have been more interesting if they were hockey gods. Of course leaving people on a sheet of ice to slowly die of hypothermia wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic as burning them alive...

Hallowed are the Ori Hockey!

The hockey gods require prostration only if they do not get the minimum sacrifice of teeth. So sayeth the Oracle of the Zamboni!!

But they do in cases where their acolytes wear watches, street clothes, and shoes (!) out onto the sacred game ice. Mac is lucky that they did not demand the sacrifice of a tooth, but merely bruised his knees in recognition of his previously blameless (read "filled with much hard checking") behavior.

He will be required to perform 4 National Anthems (2 US, 2 Canadian) and 4 Zambonis (one between each period over two games) in penance.

Oh, yeah. Biiiiig difference. As any parent of a hockey playing boy (age 3 to 99) will tell you, players head off to the penalty box filled with pride and (often) anger. It's an accolade, a judgement by an official that their game is sufficiently ferocious!

Having to drive the zamboni (once you are of age to do so solo) is a real penance. Everyone looking on knows that you are probably doing it because your parents can't afford the ice time without you chipping in.
