[Beloved Husband did his undergrad degree in chemistry, and remarks darkly to the Wicked Witch of the West each time he sees the movie that "She is not! She is disollllving, disollllving!"
The other day The Whirlwind of Destruction had to be called inside because she was out dancing in the rain when I needed her to stay dry. As I was taking her to task for this, she came out with "I'm disollllving, disollllving!" We're so proud.]
I try not to let them see me laugh when they score while being scolded, but Only Son used to make that very hard. The girls all had the typical reaction to my anger or scolding; The goddess is angry. Woe is me! The wooorrrld is coming to an end! My son's reaction was different: The goddess is angry. Must ingratiate self with goddess. Smile! Grin! Release the puppy eyes! That approach, on an earnest young face, with large hazel eyes and a head of unruly, wavy, very dark hair was extremely hard to face down with a convincing scowl. I usually managed it though, because the alternative was to let loose on the world a monster, secure in his ability to charm his way out of anything.
