Well, this particular picture is one of the ones that Kate Ritter only recently put online. None of the other pictures of Whiskey that I had before included that enthusiastic lick!
I swear RDA looks about 12 years old in that shot . . .
Though the impromptu surgery I did on Trinity the other morning might have aged me a bit, all the walking helps with the joints, so...it's a trade-off. ;)
Clearly that man is not about to pull a Lucy Van Pelt and scream "Get the hot water! Get the disinfectant! I've been kissed by a dog!" This shot makes me squee every time I see it, because they are both clearly so happy. There's none of that posed quality that most of his publicity shots have. He's just in the moment with someone he loves.
I remember seeing an interview clip, in which the host showed several images from various picture shoots. RDA looked very serious in all of them, until the last one, in which he was grinning.
"So in this one, you're finally SMILING. Why?" asked the host.
"Becaue it was almost over!" said RDA. "I HATE photo shoots!"

"A picture of a dog?"
"No, a real dog."
"In the attic?"
"No."
"Where, then?"
"Well, in about ten seconds . . . in my lap." [squoosh] "Good dog!"
