Probably three reasons: in the original image, you can see the mullet in all its mostly non-frizzy glory. I cropped the image to get closer to the face, which means the very fluffy hair on the side is more noticeable.
Also, this set of pictures aren't the greatest quality images, although this is by far the clearest of the set. When the whole image is blurry, the eye doesn't notice frizz.
And in the original, the background is overexposed, and the light fluffiness of the hair is lost against the brightness. I toned down the light levels behind him, since although Tahiti is very pretty, it's not what I myself most want to look at in this shot!
