Oh gods, if you had said 'big smelly pile', they'd'a piled YOU. Rabid. I do remember that. I know there had to be some good ones, but I got burned so badly by random attacks by S/J shippers that I've been wary of the het side of fandoms since (and some behavior since those days hasn't necessarily warmed me any). *Hands* Though I know there were good people in that Fandom. Hell - some of them are still my friends today!
Heh. The rabidity has eased a lot in recent years, I think. More to the point, I do NOT allow shipper wars in my space, and this is my space. The only time I've ever actually deleted comments here (other than spam and trolling) was when a couple of special snowflakes tried to go all ship-bashing in one of the threads.
I have both slashers and shippers in my flist, and I've enjoyed some good stuff from both sides of the Great Divide. I'm just as glad that I came into this fandom after the worst of the tempests were over!
Och, can't say I blame you! Shipper wars can be nasty. And deliberate bashing makes me wanna choke people. We can all share the Pretty for heaven's sake, lol! Neither J/D or S/J was canon, so there should be solidarity in our sorrow.
