je suis collaborateur
Or maybe that should be 'collaborateuse'?
As most folks know, I've been editing and betaing for
Lothi since about five minutes after I snuck into the Mac-verse (after picking a lock on a back entry). We've talked occasionally about actually collaborating, and ironically enough, we have finally done so -- not on MacGyver, but on The Man From UNCLE, Lothi's current new passion. Specifically, she started working on a mildly AU gapfiller to an episode with a rather lame ending -- okay, a totally lame ending -- and I ended up inviting myself along for the ride, so to speak.
Act I of "The Matriphobia Affair" is posted here on ff.net, or you can read it with pretty screen caps here on Lothi's LJ. Act II is under construction.
(Actually, Act I takes place during Act II of the original episode, and Act II will be set towards the end of Act IV. Did everyone get that? There will be a test later on.)
The story could also be called Illya's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. In other words, whumpage.
The actual collaboration part was a treat. Now that I think of it, Lothi and I have been working together for over two years -- and I originally wangled my way into her good graces because the quality of her writing had struck me so powerfully when I first encountered it. (Smacked me right between the eyes, it did.) Her influence got me to dare to write again, and there's a nice note in this of coming full circle.
Just as long as I get another ride around the merry-go-round! I refuse to get off!
And no fear -- this hasn't prevented me from continuing to make progress on my current Mac story. I'm currently working on this stack of books from the library . . . and taking a couple of the books, and my writing, with me on vacation next week. Heck, the last time I went on vacation, I came back with several fat sassy plot bunnies, one of which grew up and became Revision.

We make a great team, I think. Lawd knows my poor readers are better off now! Heh! But what's more, it has been my most sincere delight to watch (and READ) you finding your feet writing fanfic.
Fandom really does bring Friends together. :-)

So tempted to read ahead. ;)

On the other hand, it's going to be a few days at least before the second part of the fic gets posted.

Will be out of town for the next week anyway, after which I may give in to temptation and rearrange my queue. Or just go on a viewing binge until I catch up. Because... a story I can't read yet? It calls out to me! Read me... read me...

I apparently need to break down and add another show to my ever-growing 'Still need to see' list... ;)
