Actually, Mac doesn't carry much with him, except for a Swiss Army knife. He works with whatever happens to be around him. Occasionally, he has to use whatever he's wearing; shoelaces are a fave item.

It was always a sorrow to me that he never used any of those awful ties for, um, a better purpose. Not on-screen, anyway.
