Dear Mr. MacGyver,

While we find your submission to the New Writer's Mystery Novel Contest to be quite original, both in form and content, the difficulties of publishing a novel in this form would be, I fear, too difficult for Random House to undertake at this time. It is therefore with great regret that we are returning your "manuscript" to you under separate cover. You should receive it in the next seven to ten days.

We wish you luck in all your future endeavors, and hope that you can find another publishing house that can overcome the technical difficulties of the form, and undertake to publish your novel. Certainly your innovative style made the task of ferreting out who the killer was vastly more challenging and entertaining than the run of the mill mystery. I regret our technical limitations in this area.
