Unusual Good Deed #856 is to step in as a spare partner for the Lobster Quadrille once he's taken the jellyfish back to the beach. (Performing a few other good deeds on the way.)

Mac finally made it back to the beach and stood, dripping wet, glaring at the Mock Turtle.

"You said it would be -- I think you said 'delightful'. It wasn't. I felt like I had to swim halfway across the Channel to get back, and it was cold."

The Mock Turtle returned his glare with a mocking expression. "The farther off from England, the nearer 'tis to France. You should have swum the other way."

"Halfway across means it's the same distance either way! And my passport was in my pants pocket, so France was out! Speaking of that, where the heck are my pants?"

"With your shirt."

"And where’s my -- "

"The whiting has it."

"Why?"

"To use on the boots and shoes." The Mock Turtle shook its head, sniffed, and batted its cow eyes. "I don’t know why you’re complaining so much. You really have no notion how delightful it was."

"Excuse me? Gettin’ stripped and tossed into the ocean in the middle of the dance? I just told you it wasn’t."

"Well, no, not for you. But the fangirls were most appreciative."

I went and visited her LJ and I'll likely do it. Why not? I'm starting to catch up with my own stuff (though there is always more to do) with this staying up all night stuff, and I need more to do to keep me awake, so...anyway, I'll see how my "weekend" goes and we'll go from there.

Yup. Doing full time emergency work only and working the weekend overnights. Not bad, overall, but a bit of an adjustment. The staying up is easy. The having absolutely nothing to do because everyone else is off the grid isn't so much. Been watching movies, reading, writing, though...not bad, I say.
