And it's just the thing for uncorking that bottle of mead and starting up the après-joust party. Don't forget that in a world before dental floss and cheap, readily available, smooth wooden toothpicks, that little plastic toothpick is a vital aid to dental hygiene too.

So, in summary, it's okay to bring one of those babies to a swordfight, but I hear that in a gun fight they might fold on you, she said pointedly.

Not pen knife related, but...when I was tailgating before the 500 on Sunday, one of a group of four middle-aged men near us broke the arm of his camping chair.

"Anyone got a soldering iron?"

"Is MacGyver here?"

"Is anyone MacGyver? Can anyone fix this? We've got a paper clip!"

It was an awesome moment. :-)
