Who wouldn't be interested in hockey stats?! Lemme tell you a thing about offensive zone possession time relative to scoring.

(I once went to a cricket game with an American, who said that it was even better than baseball because there were so many stats you could calculate on the fly. Nerds rule.)

Tangentially, although the offside rule in ice hockey is like the offside rule for dummies, there is absolutely no counting involved in it at all. Where's the fun in that? (There is an exciting exception clause for skating backwards.)
