Oh Goa'uld God! The universe is a more dangerous place than I thought.
My first exposure to the works of H.P. Lovecraft was in third grade, when my teacher (at a private Waldorf-type school) read all of us "The Hound". Needless to say, my mother found this to be Very Inappropriate, and told her so. That teacher was not very experienced with kids or their needs. She left after that first year, and I always wondered what she did with the rest of her life.
I'm surprised your mother didn't also invest in heavy-duty therapy! "Inappropriate" is a mild word, indeed. I hope whatever that teacher did in her later career did not involve children in any way!
