Posting here has been a bit hit-and-miss lately; I've been on vacation and also sick, at the same time, which was certainly not a great combination.  This actually has nothing to do with the following Very Important Announcement.

Actually, two announcements!  The first one is that LOLMac is about to hit a multiple milestone.  On Tuesday the 13th, next week, it will have been a whole week without campaign ads LOLMac celebrates its FIFTH BIRTHDAY; and I will be posting LOLMac #1400.  (Although the archive starts on November 10th of 2007, the first few posts were backdated:  I actually started posting on the 13th.)

On the 13th, I'm going to do multiple posts:  I'm going to post a few faves from previous years, and wrap up the day with a particularly shirtless special LOL for #1400.

Second announcement under the cut )

Don’t ask him about the duct tape again, all right?

My goodness – I got more comments on a non-post than on the post I did make. If I stop posting completely, do I end up with an infinite number of comments?   Naw, better not risk it.

It's about time )

There will be a special bonus LOLMac later today . . . watch for it!

As most people know (or can guess), I keep LOLMac as a very 'public-facing' journal.  For example, I allow anonymous commenting -- some of the people who like to drop in and enjoy aren't on LJ, or don't want to use Open ID, or whatever.  My only regret for these commenters is that they might not see the replies to their comments, unless they check back.

However, I retain the right to remove, with extreme prejudice, any comment that I find offensive, or that I feel is incendiary.  I cheerfully admit to no scruples in this; I want LOLMac to be a safe place to drop in and hang out.

So why am I blathering along instead of posting a silly picture?  Okay, here's a picture.  (It's a re-run.  Click to embiggen.)  More blathering under the cut.

Spamming, trolling, and a warning )

ETA:  Woohoo!  I've been banned from one of her sock puppet journals!

ETA2:  Haha!  She just posted an anonymous threat here!  I've unscreened it so we can have fun with it.  Gosh, apparently I pay people to do my bidding.  I always wanted minions, but geez, I gotta pay them?

I just had a mystery Friend add me to his/its Friends list -- 'eorpada'.  The journal consists entirely of blatherings about a get-rich-working-at-home-with-US-government-grant-money, and the profile is randomly assembled crap and a Friends list that looks like it's half composed of porn stars.

If you go to the Support page of LJ, there's a link for reporting suspected bots, which have apparently begun to crop up in numbers.  I have reported 'eorpada'.  As far as I know, I can't remove myself from his/its Friends list; but if anyone knows a way in which this can be done without directly interacting with the bot, please let me know.
